Experience
I spent two fun-filled years in Hackney Wick so Number 90 Bar & Kitchen features in some great memories sipping beer on the patio, watching boats float down the canal. Number 90 is now two years old – how time flies – so I went down on Thursday to help kick off the birthday celebrations.

I was a little early so I popped in to have a look around before my friend arrived. I was very excited to take a sneak peek of the newly refurbished terrace. It has been extended along the canal with wood decking and now houses sun loungers, a DJ booth and its very own outdoor bar. Roll on summer.

Inside the bar was filling, my friend arrived and we ordered a healthy sexy Portobello mushroom burger with goats cheese and a side of sweet potato fries to share. The burger was stacked with roasted red peppers, rocket and red pepper infused aioli all served in a pretty brioche bun. The fries were so good we almost ordered another bowl, but opted for a cocktail instead.

Johnny’s Affair (Johnny Walker Black, Amaretto, Orange Bitters, Lemon and Cloudy apple) was like drinking a spicy summer punch and compensated for dessert. We had a goosey at an art instillation inside and later in to the evening we were treated to a special DJ set from Groove Armada’s Tom Findlay. After a little dance we left with our party hats and party bag in tow. Happy birthday Number 90, here’s to another two bloody brilliant years!
