Experience
I have lived in London for almost over two years and for the first time yesterday I travelled out to Richmond. We left our house at 12.50PM to venture west and around 4 trains and a couple of closures later, we arrived at our destination, a very picturesque town which was already alive with the Christmas buzz. I might also add the perfect place to complete your Christmas shopping with shops that would please even the most choosy of friends. As timing was never my strong suit, we ran straight to the restaurant, which is a gorgeous white open plan restaurant across three rooms and two floors. Everything is crisp clean and the open kitchen instantly makes you wish your home was decorated in even the slightest way similar. We sat in the bar area and were greeted by our incredibly bubbly and friendly waitress. Not wanting to miss out on anything, we chose a starter of mixed crostinis topped with salmon and dill, Mortadella & pistachio pate and Olive & sundried tomato tapenade. This was delicious, however probably too much as we then moved on to a huge Sunday roast, Jack chicken and I beef. The beef was beautifully tender and slipped off the bone with ease, the potatoes crunchy and fluffy on the inside, just perfect. We then finished by sharing a rich chocolate brownie, with dark chocolate mousse and a salted caramel sauce to accompany it. All this was washed down with a cold Baron de Badassiere Picpoul de Pineton my side and a Kozel for Jack. After eating our body weight in delicious food, we went for a stroll in Richmond park, which led us to getting lost whilst stag hunting in the dark and a 4 hour walk back to a station, meaning our Sunday lunch in total took 7 hours. It was definitely worth it!
